Bangladesh beat Pakistan by 10 wickets, First Test, Rawalpindi, 2024
Bangladesh toured Pakistan in 2024 searching for their first-ever Test victory over their Asian rivals. They not only achieved that feat but went on to complete a historic series sweep.
In the first Test, Pakistan took control after being asked to bat first, with centuries from Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Rizwan powering them to a mammoth 448 before they declared. Bangladesh, however, were unfazed by the imposing total and gradually took control of the contest.
Mushfiqur Rahim produced a magnificent 191, while Shadman Islam fell just short of a century with 93. Mominul Haque, Litton Das and Mehidy Hasan Miraz also contributed half-centuries as Bangladesh responded with an impressive 565.
With a 117-run first-innings lead, Bangladesh put Pakistan under immense pressure and their bowlers delivered, dismissing the hosts for 174. Mehidy Hasan Miraz claimed four wickets, while Shakib Al Hasan picked up three as Bangladesh were left with just 30 runs to win. They completed the chase without losing a wicket, securing a historic 10-wicket victory.
Bangladesh carried that momentum into the second Test and completed a 2-0 series triumph.
