The International Cricket Council (ICC) has revealed the nominees for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for July 2025. Three standout performers from India, South Africa, and England have made the shortlist following impressive displays in Test cricket.

India’s young captain Shubman Gill, South Africa’s Wiaan Mulder, and England’s Ben Stokes are the three players nominated for the monthly honour.

Shubman Gill had an outstanding month, scoring 567 runs in three Tests against England at an average of 94.50. The 25-year-old played a key role in India’s famous win at Edgbaston, where he scored a remarkable 269 in the first innings and followed it with 161 in the second. His total of 430 runs in the match is the second-highest by a batter in a single Test match, behind Graham Gooch’s record of 456.

Gill continued his fine form with another century—103 runs—in the second innings of the fourth Test at Old Trafford. His batting helped India earn a draw and level the five-match series 2-2. Batting at number four and leading India for the first time, Gill impressed everyone with his calm and confident performances.

South Africa’s all-rounder Wiaan Mulder was also in top form during the two-Test series against Zimbabwe. He scored 531 runs at an unbelievable average of 265.50. His standout innings came in the second Test in Bulawayo, where he remained unbeaten on 367—now the highest individual Test score in South African history.

Mulder also contributed with the ball, picking up seven wickets at an average of 15.28. His all-round performance earned him the Player of the Series award.

England’s captain Ben Stokes continued to lead by example during the Test series against India. He scored 304 runs at an average of 43.42 and took 17 wickets at 25.23. Stokes was named Player of the Match in back-to-back games.

At Lord’s, his all-round effort helped England to a convincing victory. He then shined again at Old Trafford, where he took 5 for 72 and hit a quick 141, helping England post a massive 669 in their first innings.

Stokes’ leadership and crucial contributions with both bat and ball kept England competitive throughout the tightly contested series.

The ICC will announce the winner of the Men’s Player of the Month in the coming days.
