Andy Flower has been appointed head coach of London Spirit men on a multi-year deal. The former England coach makes the switch from Trent Rockets, where he spent five years and lifted the title in 2022. His move comes in the wake of fresh investment in the Lord’s-based outfit from a US-led consortium of technology entrepreneurs earlier this year.

Flower, who coached England between 2009 and 2014, also oversaw Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s maiden IPL title earlier this year alongside Mo Bobat, who is now serving a similar role as Spirit’s director of cricket.

“I’m hugely excited to be joining London Spirit and to be working at the Home of Cricket,” said the 57-year-old. “It’s a real privilege to be part of such an iconic venue and organisation. I’m also thrilled to be working once again with Mo, and for the first time with both MCC and the Tech Titans.”

Flower succeeds Justin Langer, whose one-year tenure ended with a seventh-place finish in the eight-team competition.

“I’m delighted that we’ve been able to secure Andy’s services as our men’s head coach. His track record across international and franchise cricket, over an extended period of time, speaks for itself. Andy and I have enjoyed a strong working relationship in the past, and I’m looking forward to building something special with him at London Spirit as we enter this new and exciting phase for the franchise,” said Bobat.

“On behalf of everyone at London Spirit, I’d like to take the opportunity to thank Justin Langer for his efforts during the 2025 season. He led with all of the commitment and integrity that one has come to expect from a man of his calibre,” added Spirit’s director of cricket.

Spirit has entered a new ownership phase, with MCC retaining a controlling 51% stake and US-based consortium Tech Titans – which includes Times Internet’s Satyan Gajwani, Nikesh Arora of Palo Alto Networks, Egon Durban of Silver Lake and top executives from Google, Adobe and YouTube – holding the remaining 49%.
