The third and final ODI between Pakistan and West Indies will be played today (Tuesday) at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba, with the three-match series locked at 1-1.
However, just like the rain-affected second ODI, the series decider is also under threat from the weather. Forecasts predict intermittent showers throughout the day, which could disrupt play.
According to AccuWeather, Tarouba will remain mostly cloudy with a high of 33°C and a RealFeel of 40°C. Light rain is expected in the morning, followed by brief afternoon showers, bringing around 7mm of rainfall over 2.5 hours. Winds from the east are likely to blow at 13 km/h, with gusts up to 33 km/h. The probability of rain stands at 85%, with a 25% chance of thunderstorms.
The match carries extra significance for the home side, who are aiming for their first bilateral ODI series victory against Pakistan since 1991, when they won 2-0.
In the series opener, Pakistan secured a five-wicket win. West Indies posted 280, with Evin Lewis (60), Shai Hope (55), and Roston Chase (53) making key contributions. Pakistan chased down the target in 48.5 overs, thanks to a 104-run stand between debutant Hassan Nawaz (63*) and Hussain Talat (41*). Mohammad Rizwan added 53, while Babar Azam scored 47.
The second ODI, reduced to 35 overs per side due to persistent rain, went in West Indies’ favour. Pakistan managed 171-7, with Nawaz (36*), Saim Ayub (23), Abdullah Shafique (26), and Talat (31) among the scorers. The hosts reached the revised target of 181 in 33.2 overs, led by Chase (49), Sherfane Rutherford (45), Hope (32), and Justin Greaves (26).
With the series on the line, both teams will be hoping the weather allows for a full contest.
