A frustrating washout in the Eliminator saw Trent Rockets progress to the final of the 2025 Men’s Hundred competition. With the match constantly getting interrupted right from the start due to rain, Rockets went through on the virtue of finishing above Northern Superchargers in the table.

The game had a delayed start by 20 minutes and when it did get underway, Rockets struck early with the in-form Zak Crawley edging one to slip. But Dan Lawrence unleashed himself with two sixes against Sam Cook and hit Lockie Ferguson’s first ball for a boundary. Dawid Malan looked in very good touch at the other end and smashed Marcus Stoinis for a six over square leg. Malan cleared the ropes once again, this time off David Willey before the bowler got his revenge off the very next delivery.

Skipper Harry Brook was then castled by Stoinis in a massive blow before the rain arrived. While deliveries weren’t lost in this period, Superchargers were dealt a blow immediately after the restart with Rehan Ahmed striking. David Miller then took on the legspinner by smashing three sixes in a single set to give his side momentum heading into the back end of the innings. Another six followed suit off Stoinis as Miller raced to 28 off just 9 before the veteran allrounder knocked the timber next ball. With 25 deliveries still left, rain returned again and this time it ended the Superchargers’ innings for good.

Even though they had made only 119 at that point, the revised target for Rockets was 134 from 75 balls. It was a case of rinse and repeat as the skies opened up yet again, forcing the players to walk off immediately after they had made their way out to the middle for the run chase. The target was revised to 105 off 55 but after the first set was completed, the final chapter was written with rain forcing the players off once again, only to put an end to the contest for good.

Brief scores: Northern Superchargers 119/5 in 75 balls (Dan Lawrence 44*, David Miller 28; David Willey 2/22) vs Trent Rockets 12/0 in 5 balls – No Result
