The South Africa Champions have announced a power-packed squad for the second edition of the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025, featuring cricketing greats such as AB de Villiers, Hashim Amla, JP Duminy, and Chris Morris.
The squad brings together a dynamic mix of elite batters, fierce pacers, dependable spinners, and all-rounders, all of whom have represented South Africa at the highest level. While no official captain has been named yet, the team is loaded with experienced leaders who have the potential to guide the side in crunch moments.
AB de Villiers, known for his 360-degree strokeplay and unmatched innovation, headlines the side and is expected to play a key role with the bat. Alongside him, the elegant Hashim Amla and powerful Richard Levi provide top-order strength. Middle-order balance comes in the form of JP Duminy and Dane Vilas, while wicketkeeping duties will be shared between Vilas and Morne van Wyk.
The pace attack features Chris Morris, Wayne Parnell, Duanne Olivier, and Hardus Viljoen, while Imran Tahir and Aaron Phangiso bring variety and control to the spin department. All-rounders like Albie Morkel and JJ Smuts offer additional flexibility in both batting and bowling.
Team owner Amandeep Singh said, “This squad is crafted to ignite passion and inspire fans worldwide. Legends like AB de Villiers, Hashim Amla, Chris Morris, and JP Duminy carry a legacy that echoes across generations. We are confident the South Africa Champions will light up WCL 2025.”
The WCL 2025 will be played from July 18 to August 2 across four venues in England: Edgbaston (Birmingham), Grace Road (Leicester), County Ground (Northampton), and Headingley (Leeds). Six teams — India, Pakistan, England, Australia, West Indies, and South Africa — will compete in a round-robin format before the top four advance to the knockout stages.
