Cricket South Africa (CSA) has announced their ODI, T20I squads for the upcoming tour of Australia, with Temba Bavuma and Aiden Markram returning to lead the side in ODIs and T20Is respectively.

Bavuma, who missed recent matches due to a hamstring injury after South Africa’s triumph in the World Test Championship final at Lord’s in June, will captain the ODI squad. Markram, rested for the Zimbabwe tri-series, will take charge of the T20I side.

CSA has also rewarded off-spinner Prenelan Subrayen with his first-ever ODI and T20I call-ups. Subrayen made his Test debut recently in Zimbabwe and enjoyed an impressive domestic season, helping the Dolphins win the One-Day Cup earlier this year.

Hard-hitting batter Lhuan-dre Pretorius has also earned his maiden ODI selection after his performances in the T20 format and debut appearances in Zimbabwe. Dewald Brevis, who played the Zimbabwe tour, features in both squads as South Africa look to build depth ahead of major ICC tournaments.

South Africa’s head coach Shukri Conrad welcomed the return of senior players and said their experience will be key in shaping strong squads for upcoming events like the T20 World Cup next year and the 2027 ODI World Cup, which will be hosted in South Africa.

“It’s great to have our senior players back in the mix after their rest following the WTC Final,” said head coach Shukri Conrad.

“Their experience and quality add real value to the group as we continue to build a strong core in both formats. Every series from here on helps shape our squads for the T20 World Cup next year and the 2027 ODI World Cup at home,” he added.

Other notable names included in both squads are Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi, Tristan Stubbs, Ryan Rickelton, Nandre Burger, and Corbin Bosch.

The tour will consist of three T20Is on August 10, 12, and 16, followed by three ODIs on August 19, 22, and 24, all to be played in Australia.

South Africa T20I squad: Aiden Markram (captain), Corbin Bosch, Dewald Brevis, Nandre Burger, George Linde, Kwena Maphaka, Senuran Muthusamy, Lungi Ngidi, Nqaba Peter, Lhuan-dre Pretorius, Kagiso Rabada, Ryan Rickelton, Tristan Stubbs, Prenelan Subrayen, Rassie van der Dussen

South Africa ODI squad: Temba Bavuma (captain), Corbin Bosch, Matthew Breetzke, Dewald Brevis, Nandre Burger, Tony de Zorzi, Aiden Markram, Senuran Muthusamy, Keshav Maharaj, Wiaan Mulder, Lungi Ngidi, Lhuan-dre Pretorius, Kagiso Rabada, Ryan Rickelton, Tristan Stubbs, Prenelan Subrayen
