India fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has been fined 15 percent of his match fee and handed one demerit point for sending off Ben Duckett on the fourth day of the third Test against England at Lord’s. It amounted to a Level 1 breach of the ICC Code of Conduct.

The incident occurred in the sixth over of England’s second innings on Sunday, when Siraj celebrated the dismissal of the opener with what the ICC described as “excessive celebration at close proximity to the dismissed batter,” a violation under Article 2.5 of the ICC Code, which may “provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal.”

This was Siraj’s second demerit point in a 24-month period, taking his tally to two. His previous demerit point came during the Adelaide Test against Australia on December 7, 2024. Players who accumulate four or more demerit points within a 24-month period are subject to suspension.

Siraj admitted to the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by match referee Richie Richardson, eliminating the need for a formal hearing. The charge was levelled by on-field umpires Paul Reiffel and Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid, third umpire Ahsan Raza and fourth umpire Graham Lloyd.
