The International Cricket Council (ICC) has inducted seven legendary cricketers into its Hall of Fame, honouring their outstanding contributions to the sport. The announcement was made during a special ceremony held at Abbey Road Studios in London on Monday.

This year’s inductees include South Africa’s Hashim Amla and Graeme Smith, Australia’s Matthew Hayden, India’s MS Dhoni, New Zealand’s Daniel Vettori, Pakistan’s Sana Mir, and England’s Sarah Taylor. Among them, five are male cricketers and two are female cricketers.

The selected players were honoured with commemorative caps during the event, which also served as a curtain-raiser for the ICC World Test Championship final. The final, scheduled to begin on June 11 at Lord’s, will be contested between Australia and South Africa, with captains Pat Cummins and Temba Bavuma also attending the ceremony.

The inductees were chosen by a panel consisting of former Hall of Fame members, ICC officials, and media representatives.

ICC Chairman Jay Shah congratulated the new Hall of Famers and praised their contributions to the game.

“Through the ICC Hall of Fame, we pay tribute to the finest players the game has seen, individuals whose remarkable careers have shaped cricket’s legacy and inspired generations,” he said.

“This year, we are privileged to induct seven truly outstanding individuals into this prestigious group. On behalf of the ICC, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to each of them and hope they cherish this well-deserved recognition as a defining moment in their cricketing journey,” he added.

The event, titled ‘A Day with the Legends’, brought together some of the game’s biggest names and celebrated the achievements of those who have left a lasting impact on international cricket.
