Sri Lanka have announced a 16-member squad for the upcoming ODI series against Bangladesh, with Sadeera Samarawickrama and Dilshan Madushanka returning to the setup. Both players last featured in the ODI series against New Zealand in November 2024.

Samarawickrama’s last List-A action was for Sri Lanka A in the 50-over tri-series in Abu Dhabi, which also featured Ireland A and Afghanistan A. He was the second highest run-getter in the series, scoring 197 runs in 4 innings, with one hundred and one fifty. Madushanka also played in that series, bagging 8 wickets in 4 matches, with a best of 4 for 37.

Milan Rathnayake is also part of the ODI squad for the Bangladesh series but his availability is subject to fitness. Rathnayake played the first Test against Bangladesh but was ruled out of the second game due to a side strain.

Among the players to miss out from Sri Lanka’s previous ODI assignment – the series against Australia earlier this year – are Nuwanidu Fernando, Lahiru Kumara, Mohamed Shiraz.

The series begins on July 2, with R Premadasa stadium in Colombo hosting the opener as well as the second match on July 5. The third game will be played in Pallekele on July 10, which will be followed by a three-match T20I series.

Sri Lanka ODI squad: Charith Asalanka (Captain), Pathum Nissanka, Avishka Fernando, Nishan Madushka, Kusal Mendis, Sadeera Samarawickrama, Kamindu Mendis, Janith Liyanage, Dunith Wellalage, Wanindu Hasaranaga, Maheesh Theekshana, Jeffrey Vandersay, Milan Rathnayake (subject to fitness), Dilshan Madushanka, Asitha Fernando, Eshan Malinga
