Essex Cricket has confirmed that men’s batter Robin Das has signed a new contract extension, securing his future with the Club.
Das, 23, has agreed terms to a new one-year contract which will keep him at Essex until the end of the 2026 season.
The right-handed batter has featured across all three formats for the Club since making his debut in 2020 at just 18-years-old after impressing in the Academy and Second XI. Das has made nine first-class appearances for Essex, scoring 327 runs with a high score of 132 against Ireland on his first-class debut.
On signing his new deal, Das said: “I am very pleased to be signing an extension with Essex.
“It is a privilege every time I get the opportunity to play for my boyhood club and it’s a place that I call home.
“I am looking forward to hopefully contributing to future team successes and repaying the faith that the Club and coaches have shown in me.”
Das’s introduction to first team red-ball cricket came during Ireland’s tour match against Essex at Chelmsford in 2023. His impressive and composed knock of 132 from just 118 balls provided the perfect springboard to feature in the following fixture – a T20 against Gloucestershire.
The then 21-year-old top-scored with 69 from 33 balls, helping to cement his place in the side for the remainder of that season’s T20 campaign.
Usually batting at the top of the order, Das has also been a regular feature in Essex’s white-ball squads from a young age, impressing many with his maturity and composure.
In 28 List A matches, Das has scored 776 runs, including a career-best 100 not out in a seven-wicket victory against Nottinghamshire in 2024. Additionally, in 22 T20 appearances, Robin has accumulated 341 runs, with a highest score of 72 against Somerset at Chelmsford in 2024.
Essex Cricket’s Director of Cricket, Chris Silverwood said: “We are really pleased that Robin has agreed to extend his contract with the Club.
“Robin is a very talented cricketer who has shown his abilities from a young age, stepping into the first team regularly across all three formats.
“It’s fantastic to see that he has chosen to continue his journey with us and his commitment is a testament to the culture we are continuing to build here at Essex.”
