India have already booked their place in the Super Four, while five other teams are still in the race as the Asia Cup 2025 group stage heads toward its conclusion on Friday, September 19.

In Group A, defending champions India sealed qualification after victories over UAE and arch-rivals Pakistan. Oman, however, have been eliminated following defeats in both their matches against Pakistan and UAE.

This leaves Pakistan and UAE fighting for the remaining Super Four spot. The two sides will face each other today, Wednesday, September 17. The winner will progress to the Super Four and meet India on September 21, while the loser will be knocked out of the tournament.

In Group B, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan remain in contention, while Hong Kong have been eliminated after losing all three of their matches.

Former champions Sri Lanka have already beaten Bangladesh and Hong Kong and will complete their group stage on Thursday, September 18, against Afghanistan. If Sri Lanka win, they will qualify alongside Bangladesh. If they lose, qualification will depend on the margin of defeat. A narrow loss would still see them advance, with Afghanistan finishing as group leaders and Bangladesh being eliminated.

For Afghanistan, the equation is simple: they must beat Sri Lanka to secure a place in the Super Four. A loss will end their campaign, sending Sri Lanka and Bangladesh through.

Bangladesh, meanwhile, will be keeping a close eye on the Afghanistan–Sri Lanka clash. If Sri Lanka win, Bangladesh will qualify. But if Afghanistan win, Bangladesh can only advance if Afghanistan secure a big-margin victory over Sri Lanka.

The group stage will conclude on September 19, when India face Oman in a dead rubber.

The Super Four stage will run from September 20 to 26, followed by the Asia Cup final on September 28.
