PSL affairs are slowing down, with the new CEO Salman Naseer yet to form his team. An audit firm has not even been appointed for the valuation of existing franchises, and there has been complete silence regarding the inclusion of new teams.

According to details, after long-standing demands from the franchises, the PCB had decided to form a separate company for the PSL. The board’s COO, Salman Naseer, took over as the league’s Chief Executive. While he somehow managed to organize the 10th edition of the league, several key issues remain unresolved.

To date, no appointments have been made for other important official positions. Recently, only a job advertisement for a Senior Manager PSL was released. Sources say that a female official who has been serving temporarily in this role is likely to be appointed permanently.

Before the 11th edition, the contracts with existing franchises are due for review. This process requires the appointment of a reputable audit firm, which will assess franchise valuations and determine any increase in fees. Surprisingly, no discussions have yet taken place with any firm. Sources indicate that an advertisement will be placed in newspapers to appoint a firm, which will then need 2–3 months for the valuation process—pushing the matter into September or October.

The inclusion of two new teams has also stalled. No discussions have taken place regarding the accounts and other aspects of the 10th edition. The 10-year title sponsorship contract also needs renewal. In addition, there will be 8–10 categories of ground sponsorships, separate domestic and international broadcast contracts, and a new deal for live streaming.

PCB officials are also being kept at a distance from PSL matters. However, it is now evident that managing everything alone is beyond Salman Naseer’s capacity. Franchises are growing increasingly concerned over the slow pace of progress.
