Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Monday announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, scheduled from September 30 to November 2 in India and Sri Lanka. The same squad will also play a three-match ODI series against South Africa in Lahore from September 16 to 22.

According to PCB press release, all-rounder Fatima Sana will lead Pakistan for the first time in a 50-over World Cup. The 23-year-old previously captained the team during the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier earlier this year in Lahore, where Pakistan went unbeaten to secure their spot in the mega event.

Uncapped young talent Eyman Fatima, 20, has been included in the squad. The right-handed batter made her T20I debut against Ireland earlier this year and will now get her first chance in ODIs. Alongside her, Natalia Parvaiz, Rameen Shamim, Sadaf Shamas, Sadia Iqbal, Shawaal Zulfiqar and Syeda Aroob Shah are set to feature in their maiden ODI World Cup.

Pakistan’s group-stage matches will be held at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo. If the team qualifies, the semi-final on October 29 and the final on November 2 will also take place at the same venue.

From the squad that featured in the World Cup Qualifier, two changes have been made. Eyman Fatima and Sadaf Shamas have replaced Gull Feroza and Najiha Alvi, who move to the reserves list. Other reserves include Tuba Hassan, Umm-e-Hani and Waheeda Akhtar.

The selected players, along with the five reserves, will undergo a two-week training camp starting August 29 under the supervision of head coach Muhammad Wasim and his support staff.

South Africa’s women’s team is scheduled to arrive in Lahore on September 12 for the ODI series.
