Northamptonshire County Cricket Club have announced the signing of Louis Kimber, who arrives on a two-year deal from Leicestershire.

Darren Lehmann’s side are reported to intend utilising Kimber’s skillset across all formats as the talented player recorded over 3000 runs and 26 wickets for The Foxes.

Kimber is delighted to be joining Northamptonshire and is excited to play under Darren Lehmann’s leadership.

“I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining Northamptonshire. It’s a club with a proud history and a great group of people, and I’m really looking forward to contributing both on and off the field.”

“Having spoken with Darren, I’m very excited to work with him to take my game forward. They had a fantastic Blast campaign and I’m looking forward to joining the group and being part of what’s ahead.”

Signing from Leicestershire after five years at Grace Road, Kimber will bring considerable power and entertainment to the Northamptonshire batting line up, holding the record for the most runs scored in an over (43) and the most sixes in an innings (21), overtaking Ben Stokes’ previous record.

Both records were broken in his memorable innings against Sussex in 2024. Scoring 243 from 127 balls in a scintillating display of hitting, Kimber will undoubtedly provide fireworks at The County Ground throughout 2026 and beyond.

Head Coach, Darren Lehmann, is thrilled to have added Kimber to the squad.

“Louis brings with him a huge amount of knowledge and experience around County Cricket as well as boosting our batting firepower.”

“He will no doubt attract people to Wantage Road with his explosive batting and I can’t wait to start working with him.”
