Led by a clinical all-round bowling display and Tanzid Hasan’s blazing half-century, Bangladesh cruised to a comfortable nine-wicket win over Netherlands in the second T20I, on Monday.

Put in to bat, Netherlands struggled to find momentum in their innings, with Nasum Ahmed and Taskin Ahmad combining to strike thrice in the powerplay. Much of the runs scored in this phase came from Vikramjit Singh’s bat as he cracked four boundaries in his 17-ball knock.

Scott Edwards and Shariz Ahmad attempted to revive the innings with a steady fourth wicket stand, but once the captain was dismissed by Mustafizur Rahman, their innings came collapsing again, and by the 15th over, they were reduced to 81 for 9.

Towards the latter end of the innings, Aryan Dutt cracked three boundaries and a six in his enterprising knock of 30, the highest of the innings, to help Netherlands cross the 100-run mark before he was cleaned up by Mahedi Hasan.

In response, Bangladesh took little time to take control in the chase. In the second over, Parvez Hossain and Tanzid Hasan cracked a boundary each to get a move on. The openers put on a 40-run stand before Kyle Klein had the last laugh when Parvez got an edge to an offcutter to the ‘keeper. However, that happened to be the last success of the game for the visitors.

Litton Das, got going with a reverse sweep for a boundary, before Tanzid took over. The duo took calculated risks, and turned the strike over at regularly. The dot balls dropped through the middle overs, and on a surface where there wasn’t much assistance for the bowlers, Bangladesh cruised past Netherlands’ total with 41 balls to spare and secure a series-winning lead.

Brief Scores: Netherlands 103 in 17.3 overs (Aryan Dutt 30, Vikramjit Singh 24; Nasum Ahmed 3-21, Mustafizur Rahman 2-18) lost to Bangladesh 104/1 in 13.1 overs (Tanzid Hasan 54*, Parvez Hossain 23; Kyle Klein 1-20) by 9 wickets
