In a thrilling game that went down to the final ball, Texas Super Kings held their nerves to beat MI New York by just three runs in the second match of Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025. Chasing 186, MINY needed nine runs from the last over but Daryl Mitchell bowled cleverly to seal a memorable win.
MINY’s chase had gotten off to a shaky start. They lost three wickets inside the powerplay, including captain Nicholas Pooran for 6. Monank Patel, however, held firm amidst early struggle but eventually found his rhythm and hit a half-century. Bracewell gave him good support, and the duo put together a strong 97-run partnership to bring MINY back in the game.
But just when things started looking good for the chasing side, Adam Milne and Mitchell turned the game around. Milne picked up his third wicket in the form of Bracewell, but the real turning point came when Mitchell was involved in two run-outs off consecutive balls, first accounting for Kieron Pollard and then Monank Patel. Even after that, Trent Boult and Tajinder Dhillon kept the chase alive with some late hits but couldn’t take MINY over the line.
Earlier, TSK were asked to bat first and finished with 185/6. Devon Conway anchored the innings with a solid 65 off 44 balls while Calvin Savage, eventually named Player of the Match, smashed an unbeaten 53 off just 34 balls to lift the total in the final overs. Until then, MINY’s bowlers had kept things under control for the most part, with Michael Bracewell taking two key wickets of Mitchell and Milind Kumar.
