Kyle Jamieson and Ben Sears are back in the New Zealand squad for the upcoming Chappell-Hadlee Trophy T20I series against Australia. Jamieson had missed the recent tour of Zimbabwe owing to the birth of his first child while Sears was ruled out of the tour due to a side strain.

Apart from Jamieson and Sears, New Zealand’s seam attack also features Matt Henry, the No.1-ranked T20I bowler Jacob Duffy and Zak Foulkes.

Youngster Bevon Jacobs keeps his place after an impressive unbeaten 44 on debut against South Africa in Zimbabwe, while Devon Conway also stays on after coming in as injury cover on that tour. Tim Seifert, fresh off a record CPL hundred for St Lucia Kings, continues as wicketkeeper, and Tim Robinson retains his spot after a Player-of-the-Match knock in the tri-series against South Africa.

Ish Sodhi is the frontline spinner in the side that will be captained by Michael Bracewell. He is leading the team in the absence of Mitchell Santner, who is recovering from abdominal surgery and is expected to be available for England’s tour later in the month. Bracewell has led the T20I side 10 times previously, including the 4-1 win over Pakistan earlier this year.

Along with Santner, several other senior names – Finn Allen, Adam Milne, Will O’Rourke, Glenn Phillips and Lockie Ferguson – are sidelined through injury. Kane Williamson, who recently signed an international casual playing agreement with New Zealand Cricket, has made himself unavailable for the series.

The three-match series begins on October 1 at Bay Oval, with the remaining games on October 3 and 4 at the same venue.

New Zealand T20I squad: Michael Bracewell (c), Mark Chapman, Devon Conway, Jacob Duffy, Zak Foulkes, Matt Henry, Bevon Jacobs, Kyle Jamieson, Daryl Mitchell, Rachin Ravindra, Tim Robinson, Ben Sears, Tim Seifert, Ish Sodhi
