Kolkata Knight Riders on Saturday announced the inclusion of Abhishek Nayar to its coaching staff for the remaining Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season.
Nayar was previously a part of the franchise during the 2024 season, when the side clinched its third IPL title.
Earlier this week, Nayar was relieved from his role as assitant coach with the Indian men’s national team, along with fielding coach T. Dilip. Nayar had joined the team in 2024 when Gautam Gambhir took over as head coach.
Though the reason for his ouster was not specified by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), India’s poor Test run, which included a 0-3 series loss to New Zealand at home and the 1-3 loss to Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, is believed to have prompted the call.
