PNG v Netherlands
Papua New Guinea registered their second win of the tournament with a thrilling eight-run victory over Netherlands
Papua New Guinea won the toss and chose to bat, but an early wicket gave the Netherlands a promising start. PNG, however, recovered strongly and lost only one more wicket for the rest of the innings as they got to 126.
Naoani Vare anchored the innings with a well-crafted 45, while Hollan Doriga provided momentum with a quickfire 39 off 27 deliveries. Skipper Brenda Tau also contributed a steady run-a-ball 34. Iris Zwilling and Caroline de Lange picked up a wicket each.
Netherlands stumbled early in the chase, losing two quick wickets to Henao Thomas before Sterre Kalis (40) and Robine Rijke (29) revived the innings with a 52-run partnership. However, the momentum slipped away in the second half of the innings, as the Dutch line-up struggled to accelerate, leading to a flurry of wickets that left them reeling at 92 for 6.
Netherlands only managed to score 118, falling short by 8 runs. Henao (3/24) and Pauke Siaka (3/22) were the pick of the PNG bowling effot.
