Gloucestershire Cricket is thrilled to confirm the signing of T20 World Cup winner Dawid Malan, who will join our Vitality Blast squad for the 2026 and 2027 seasons.

The move marks the third county of Malan’s distinguished career, following a thirteen-year spell with Middlesex and five seasons at Yorkshire. During his time at Headingley, he became a key figure in their T20 programme, captaining the side in 2025 and finishing as Yorkshire’s top Blast run-scorer in both 2023 and 2024.

The batter brings a wealth of success from both domestic and international cricket. He won the forerunner to the Vitality Blast with Middlesex in 2008 and has lifted The Hundred trophy twice, first with Trent Rockets in 2022, where he finished as the competition’s top run scorer, and again with the Oval Invincibles in 2024.

On signing for Gloucestershire, Dawid Malan said:

“Gloucestershire are a team with real ambition to challenge for the T20 Blast next season, and I am pleased and excited to be joining the club.”

“You only have to speak to Jon Lewis and Mark Alleyne to understand the scale of their ambition. They are putting together a strong squad, and I am eager to contribute.”

“I have worked with both of them in the England set-up – they are positive, professional people – and it will be great to join them and the players, and to help Gloucestershire challenge for titles.”

On Malan’s signing, Gloucestershire’s Director of Cricket, Jon Lewis, said the following:

“Players of this calibre are rarely available in the domestic game, so when we became aware that Dawid might be available to come to Bristol, we moved quickly because we knew he’d be a fantastic addition to our T20 squad.”

“I know Dawid well from my time with the England Men’s team and I’m confident he’ll be a great fit for our dressing room. He’s a good person, an excellent professional and someone who will be brilliant to have around the place.”

“His record speaks for itself. He was the leading T20 run-scorer for Yorkshire in the North Group last year and, as many supporters will know, has previously been the world’s number one-ranked T20 batter. Bringing someone with that level of quality, experience and global pedigree into our Vitality Blast squad is a huge coup for Gloucestershire.”

“We’re excited to see him play a major role in what we hope will be a successful season at the Seat Unique Stadium.”

On the international stage, Malan’s achievements mark him out as one of England’s most prolific white ball batters. He became only the second England men’s player to score a century in all three formats and his unbeaten 103 remains England Men’s fifth-highest IT20 score. His superb 140 off 107 balls against Bangladesh at the 2023 Men’s ODI World Cup stands as the fourth-highest individual score by an England player at any World Cup, and one of his six ODI centuries. His memorable 140 in Perth during the 2017-18 Ashes was a rare highlight for England during a difficult tour.

During his international career, Malan’s T20 form propelled him to No. 1 in the ICC IT20 batting rankings. He also became the fastest player in history to reach 1,000 IT20 runs, achieving the milestone in just 24 innings.

The defining moment of his esteemed career came in 2022, playing a key role in England’s triumphant T20 World Cup campaign. Although an injury ruled him out of the Final, his performances throughout qualifying and the tournament were instrumental in securing his winner’s medal.

Malan’s influence extends across the global franchise circuit. He has cleared ropes in nearly every corner of the cricketing world and is currently playing in Nepal the ninth domestic franchise league of his career, which includes stints in the Big Bash and IPL. Most recently, at the start of 2025, he added another trophy to his cabinet by winning the Bangladesh Premier League with Fortune Barishal.

Malan brings to the Club world-class quality, vast experience, and a proven winning pedigree. Supporters will be able to see him in Gloucestershire colours for the first time during the 2026 Vitality Blast, which begins next May at home against the Warwickshire Bears.
