Gloucestershire Secure All-Rounder Liam Scott for the Upcoming Vitality Blast Season

Gloucestershire have secured the signing of Australian all-rounder Liam Scott for the Club’s 2026 Vitality Blast campaign.

In addition to his T20 commitments, Scott will be available for two County Championship away fixtures, with the trips to Worcestershire and Northamptonshire falling between the Blast blocks next June.

Born and raised in suburban Sydney, Scott is regarded as one of Australia’s most promising young all-round talents. A product of the South Australia and Adelaide Strikers pathways, the right-arm seamer made his Big Bash debut just eight days after turning 20 and has since developed into a regular member of the Strikers’ first-team squad.

Earlier this year he delivered one of his most explosive T20 innings, hitting his highest Big Bash score against the Perth Scorchers. He blasted 67 from 43 balls, striking four fours and five sixes in a standout performance of the Strikers’ campaign.

Gloucestershire will also feel more familiar for the Aussie all-rounder, with fellow Adelaide Striker D’Arcy Short already confirmed to return to the Shire for the 2026 season.

Scott represents South Australia in red-ball cricket, where his side currently sit third in the Sheffield Shield. Last week he delivered a match-winning performance against Tasmania, compiling a superb 147. He has been just as effective with the ball. Opening the bowling in five Shield matches this season, he has taken 12 wickets and sent down 35 maidens, placing him third in the competition for that metric. His wickets include former Gloucestershire player Cameron Green and Australia Test opener Jake Weatherald.

Most recently, Scott has represented Australia A during an unofficial ODI series against India in Kanpur. His highlight of the tour came in a seventh-wicket stand of 152 with Jack Edwards, during which Scott blasted a brilliant 73 from 64 balls, clearing the ropes six times.

With proven ability in all formats, Scott’s arrival promises to add firepower with the bat and youthful exuberance to Gloucestershire’s squad as preparations intensify for the 2026 season.

Upon signing his contact, Liam Scott said:

“I’m absolutely delighted to be joining Gloucestershire for the 2026 season. The opportunity to play for the full T20 Blast season, as well as two Championship games, is one that I grabbed.”

“The Club has a rich history of quality Australian overseas players, and I am very much hoping to add to that and help bring success to the Club. I can’t wait to meet my teammates, coaches, and the fans, and show everyone what I can offer.”

Director of Cricket, Jon Lewis, added:

“Liam is an exciting young all-rounder from South Australia who plays for the Strikers in the Big Bash. He’s a cricketer whose stock is on the rise and is highly regarded across Australia. We’ve done extensive research into the best young all-rounders available, and adding a third overseas player with a different skillset will help balance our T20 squad throughout the tournament.”

“We’re really excited to welcome him over. We’ve heard so many positive things and look forward to seeing him join the group.”

“Liam will also be available for two County Championship matches at the height of the summer. We’ve had a number of impressive Australian all-rounders with the Club in recent years, and we’re confident Liam has the ability to be the next big overseas star for Gloucestershire.”
