Bangladesh Cricket Board said on Tuesday (July 29) that they have decided to launch a short workshop in August with national cricketers to make them understand their dos and don’ts. The decision was taken following the recent controversies surrounding Taskin Ahmed that is yet to be resolved.

A General Diary (GD) was filed against cricket star Taskin Ahmed at Mirpur Model Police Station on Monday over allegations of assault and issuing threats. The complaint was lodged by a man named Sifatur Rahman Sourave, confirmed Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sajjadur Rahman of Mirpur Model Police Station.

According to the OC, the incident took place on Sunday night in front of Sony Cinema Hall. “Taskin allegedly called Sifatur to the location, punched him, and issued threats,” said the OC, citing the contents of the GD. “Police are currently investigating the matter,” he added.

When contacted by Cricbuzz, Taskin said that all allegations against him are not true. “I can only say that the allegations are false and fabricated,” he said.

BCB media committee chairman Iftekhar Ahmed told this website on Tuesday that they cannot take any action against the pacer for allegedly beating a friend as the matter is still under investigation.

“Let Taskin be proven guilty first. There has been a case and it will be followed by an investigation. It is beyond the cricket board now. Taskin says that he is not involved in it. Now police will investigate it as there has been a GD. There will be an outcome and let’s wait for that ,” said Iftekhar.

“We are planning to hold a short workshop with national cricketers in August as we feel we must remind them what they can do and what they cannot considering they are not only cricketers rather they are also idols of many youngsters and are being followed by them so they have some accountability towards their fans,” he added.
