Gloucestershire all-rounder Daaryoush “Daz” Ahmed has signed a rookie contract with the county, extending his stay at the Seat Unique Stadium until October 2026.
Ahmed, who joined the senior squad for the 2025 Metro Bank One Day Cup, has progressed through several development pathways, including the Gloucestershire Cricket Academy, the South Asian Cricket Academy (SACA), and the MCC Young Cricketers Programme. He has also featured regularly for Gloucestershire’s Second XI over the past three seasons.
The Bristol-born player enjoyed a breakthrough year during the 2025 campaign, taking his first professional wickets against Worcestershire Rapids. His dismissals of Isaac Mohammed and captain Jake Libby were key contributions in a win over the side that went on to lift the Metro Bank One Day Cup.
Ahmed also made useful contributions with the bat, providing quick runs lower down the order. His innings at Guildford played a part in Gloucestershire’s first victory at the ground in 45 years, helping to build pressure on Surrey in a closely fought contest.
To cap off his debut season, the 25-year-old received his First-Class cap at Lord’s, presented by Gloucestershire coach Owen Dawkins before play began on the Nursery Ground.

In an exclusive interview with the Club, Daaryoush Ahmed said about his new contract:
“I’m delighted to extend my stay at Gloucestershire and feel extremely excited about what next year has in store for the group. The opportunity to make my first-class debut at Lord’s capped off a very special season on a personal level, and I can’t wait to build on that next year to make a strong impact for the club.
I’d like to express a huge thanks to my coaches and teammates who have helped me settle in so well during my first few months. I feel very proud to represent Gloucestershire and hope to call this club home for many years to come.”
Following the signing of the contract, Mark Alleyne commented:
“It’s great to see Daz commit to extending his stay with us. We’ve had a strong relationship with him over the years, and it’s always special to see a local player from Golden Hill CC in Bristol progress through with such determination and perseverance.
“Thanks also to SACA and the MCC Young Cricketers for providing valuable opportunities for Daz to showcase his talent. I’m confident he’ll continue to add real value to our First XI squad.”
