South Zone vs North Zone

Led by Gurjapneet Singh’s 4-fer, South Zone bundled out North Zone for 361 in the first innings, on Day 4, to seal their place in the final. With an outright result out of sight, N Jagadeesan struck an unbeaten 52 as South Zone piled up 95 for 1 before captains of both teams decided to shake hands and accept a draw.

Resuming the innings on 278 for 5, after having lost two wickets late on the penultimate day to run outs, South Zone asserted their dominance on Sunday. Shubham Khajuriya, who was unbeaten overnight after having scored a century was cleaned up by V Koushik early.

Mayank Dagar attempted to put up a resistance with the lower order but South Zone kept striking at regular intervals. M Nidheesh struck twice, including the scalp of Dagar, as North Zone fell 175 runs short of South’s first innings total.

Brief Scores: South Zone 538 (N Jagadeesan 197; Nishant Sidhu 5-125) & 95/1 (N Jagadeesan 52*) drew with North Zone 361 (SHubham Khajuriya 128; Gurjapneet Singh 4-96)

West Zone vs Central Zone

Saransh Jain picked a fifer but Central Zone couldn’t push for an outright win on the final day against West Zone. However, having taken the first innings lead on the penultimate day, Central Zone qualified for the final, and there were no dramatic threats to that result on Sunday.

Having resumed the day on 556 for 8, Saransh stroked an unbeaten 63, and stretched the ninth wicket stand to 42 before his team got bundled out for 600. Even as none of the batters registered a century, six of them ended up with half-centuries to their credit.

In response West Zone never attempted to go for a win even as Yashasvi Jaiswal blazed away to a quickfire 64. Tanush Kotian, who earned a promotion to No 5, stroked an unbeaten 40, but there were no notable contributions from the other batters even as West managed to clear the first innings deficit. Harsh Dubey added three wickets to his tally as all the eight dismissals were triggered by the Central spinners.

Brief Scores: West Zone 438 (Ruturaj Gaikwad 184; Harsh Dubey 3-118) & 216/8 (Yashasvi Jaiswal 64; Saransh Jain 5-84) drew with Central Zone 600 (Shubham Sharma 96; Dharmendrasinh Jadeja 4-130)
