Northamptonshire County Cricket Club are thrilled to announce that Ben Sanderson has signed a two-year contract extension, keeping him at the club until at least the end of the 2027 season.
Since arriving at Wantage Road, Sanderson has gone on to make 245 appearances across all formats, taking 584 wickets.
The seamer currently sits in the top 15 wickets takers for the County across all formats.
“It’s amazing that the Club has shown faith in me to be here for at least another two years.” Sanderson said.
“We’ve got a great group here, everyone’s eager to learn and there’s a real hunger to succeed among the lads.
“I’ve loved my time here, it’s a great place for me to play my cricket and I’ll continue to enjoy it over the next couple of years.”
Sanderson’s relentless line, length and wicket taking ability has confirmed legendary status at Wantage Road with his consistency in all formats in his ten-year spell at the club. His role in the famous 2016 Vitality Blast triumph, where he took 3 wickets in the final, established his place in Steelbacks history.
Head Coach Darren Lehmann is delighted with Sanderson’s decision to extend his time at the Club.
“He’s been an outstanding player for Northamptonshire for a long period of time and is so important for us.
“The knowledge that he’s able to pass on to the younger players around the dressing room is invaluable for us.
“He’s been great this season and we hope to see that from continue over the next couple of years. He’s a great young man.”
Sanderson signs this extension off the back of a memorable 2025 so far. Leading the wicket taking charts in the Vitality Blast with 21 scalps, the veteran is looking to celebrate his tenth season and contract extension with further success with the County.
