Australia have been fined 10 percent of their match fee for maintaining a slow over rate against India in the second ODI between the two sides at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur, New Chandigarh on Wednesday (September 17).

Australia were found guilty of being two overs short at a target time after considering all available time allowances. Alyssa Healy pled guilty to the offence.

Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, players are fined five per cent of their match fee for every over the team fails to bowl in the allotted time. On-field umpires Vrinda Rathi and Janani Narayanan, third umpire Lauren Agenbag and fourth umpire Gayathri Venugopalan levelled the charge.

India won the second ODI comprehensively by 102 runs. India’s batting was spearheaded by Smriti Mandhana’s century before the hosts bowled Australia out for 190 to level the three-match series 1-1. The decider will be played on Saturday (September 20) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
