Australia captain Pat Cummins has announced the playing XI for the ICC World Test Championship Final against South Africa at Lord’s, sticking with the lineup predicted by cricket legend Ricky Ponting on The ICC Review last month.

Veteran opener Usman Khawaja will have a new partner at the top, with Marnus Labuschagne moving up to open the batting. Labuschagne, a former top-ranked Test batter, steps into the role to provide stability alongside Khawaja.

In the pace bowling attack, Josh Hazlewood has edged out Scott Boland to join Mitchell Starc and captain Cummins. Hazlewood’s recent form in the Indian Premier League likely tipped the scales in his favor. The trio will lead Australia’s fast bowling charge on the lively Lord’s pitch.

All-rounder Cameron Green returns to Test cricket after undergoing back surgery, adding depth to the batting and bowling. Beau Webster holds his place in the side, offering support with his medium-pace bowling and occasional spin.

Wicketkeeper Alex Carey, batter Steve Smith, and middle-order star Travis Head complete the batting lineup, while spinner Nathan Lyon rounds out the bowling attack.

Australia playing XI: Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Cameron Green, Steve Smith, Travis Head, Beau Webster, Alex Carey (wk), Pat Cummins (c), Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon, Josh Hazlewood.
