Birmingham Phoenix have announced the signing of Alice Capsey ahead of the 2026 season of The Hundred, with the dynamic England international all-rounder joining Phoenix Women for the upcoming campaign.
Capsey, 21, arrives as one of the most exciting talents in the women’s game, renowned for her aggressive batting and effective off-spin bowling. Already an established international across formats, Capsey brings a proven match-winning pedigree to the Phoenix squad as preparations continue for the upcoming Hundred campaign.
Since making her England debut in 2022, Capsey has quickly become a mainstay of the national side. She has scored over 1,000 international runs across T20I and ODI cricket, including multiple half-centuries, while also contributing regularly with the ball. In T20 cricket, she boasts a strike rate often above 100, underlining her ability to set the tempo at the top of the order.
Capsey has also impressed across the global franchise circuit, producing standout performances in The Hundred, the Women’s Premier League and the Women’s Big Bash League. In The Hundred to date, she has accumulated almost 800 runs, including six half centuries for previous side MI London. She has also made important contributions with the ball, taking 22 wickets at 18.77.
“I’m really excited to be joining Birmingham Phoenix,” said Capsey. “The Hundred is such a brilliant competition to play in, and Edgbaston is an incredible venue with amazing supporters. Phoenix are building a great group of players and staff, and I’m looking forward to contributing, learning and hopefully helping the team push deep into the tournament.”
Phoenix Performance Director James Thomas said: “Alice is an outstanding talent and one of the most impactful young players in world cricket. Her ability to influence games at the top of the order, combined with her energy in the field and growing all-round skillset, makes her a fantastic addition to our squad.
“We’re thrilled to welcome her to Birmingham Phoenix and believe she’ll play a key role in our women’s campaign.”
Capsey’s signing further strengthens Phoenix Women as the side continues to build a balanced, exciting squad capable of challenging at the top of The Hundred in 2026 after announcing the retention of Ellyse Perry last week.
