Northamptonshire County Cricket Club are pleased to confirm that Justin Broad has committed his future to the Club by signing a new contract extension running until the end of the 2028 season.
The all-rounder had already agreed a deal earlier this year that tied him down until 2026, but his outstanding performances across formats in 2025 have been rewarded with a longer-term agreement.
Broad expressed his delight at extending his stay in Northamptonshire colours, saying:
“I’m delighted to sign an extension with Northamptonshire.”
The 25-year-old continued by reflecting on his journey since first arriving at the County Ground:
“I’ve really enjoyed my time here since joining and am extremely thankful for the opportunity they gave me.”
Since earning his first professional deal in 2023, Broad has underlined his potential with consistency and class, scoring 1,123 runs across all three formats. In the Rothesay County Championship this year, he has averaged just under 50, registering back-to-back 150s, including a career-best 171 against Derbyshire in July.
Broad’s breakthrough year has also seen him shine in the Vitality Blast. On Finals Day, he anchored the Steelbacks innings with a superb unbeaten 61, one of three half-centuries in the competition. Demonstrating his adaptability, the all-rounder successfully filled a variety of roles in the batting order depending on the situation.
With the ball, Broad has contributed significantly too, collecting 29 wickets across formats and providing Northamptonshire with another reliable option in attack.

Looking ahead to his future development, Broad stressed how much he is enjoying his cricket and the support of the backroom staff:
“I’ve loved working with all the coaches this year and am excited to work with them over the next few years, continuing to improve my game and hopefully helping Northamptonshire to reach the goals that we have set out to achieve.”
Head Coach Darren Lehmann praised the decision to secure Broad on a long-term deal and highlighted the impact he has had this season:
“Justin’s been outstanding for us this season and has been really impressive to watch. He’s performed brilliantly in all formats so we’re delighted to be keeping him at the Club.
“He’s a future leader of the Club and the way he goes about his work is exceptional.”
