Indian middle-order batter Jemimah Rodrigues has been ruled out for the remainder of the ODI series against Australia. The batter is down with viral fever, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced in a press release. Tejal Hasabnis has been named her replacement for the remaining two matches.

With the Women’s ODI World Cup imminent in under two weeks time, Rodrigues missing out on the remaining two games will be a big blow for the Indian side and also for her as she will be missing out on vital preparation ahead of the mega event. Rodrigues scored 18 runs in the last outing against Australia at the New PCA Stadium in Chandigarh where India succumbed to defeat.

Hasabnis, meanwhile, in her short ODI career of six matches has scored 140 runs with a single 50 to her name against Ireland in January, earlier this year. The rest of the squad remains unchanged with Prema Rawat and Priya Mishra on standby for the series.

Australia lead the three-match ODI series 1-0 with the second game to be played today at the New PCA stadium in Chandigarh.
