Abrar Ahmed achieves career-best move in ICC ODI rankings

Pakistan spinner Abrar Ahmed have achieved notable gain in the latest ICC ODI rankings following updates after the first ODI between South Africa and Australia, which the Proteas won.

He made the biggest jump among Pakistani bowlers, climbing 18 spots to 43rd with 502 points.

Among Pakistan’s batters, T20 skipper Salman Ali Agha moved up three places to 40th with 550 rating points, while former captain Babar Azam remained at the second position. ODI skipper Mohammad Rizwan fell five places to 27th, while opener Fakhar Zaman dropped one place to 28th with 592 and 584 points, respectively. Imam-ul-Haq, currently playing county cricket for Yorkshire and not part of the ongoing ODI squad, slipped three places to 42nd. Young batter Saim Ayub endured the biggest fall, sliding 12 places to 60th with 503 points.

On the international front, India’s Shubman Gill continues to lead as the No. 1 ODI batter, with New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell holding the third spot.

In bowling, Shaheen Afridi slipped two places to 15th, while Haris Rauf dropped three spots to 31st. Naseem Shah also fell three places to 51st. All-rounder Mohammad Nawaz and Mohammad Wasim Jr. went down three positions each, ranking 78th and 87th, respectively.

Meanwhile, South African left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj became the new No. 1 ODI bowler after his five-wicket haul against Australia, pushing Sri Lanka’s Maheesh Theekshana to second and India’s Kuldeep Yadav to third.
