St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots have signed Pakistan fast bowler Abbas Afridi for the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025, which begins on August 14.

Afridi will link up with fellow Pakistan pacer Naseem Shah, who is returning to the CPL after last playing in 2021 for the same franchise. That year, Naseem featured in seven matches, claiming six wickets at an economy rate of 7.68.

The Patriots have not yet confirmed which player Afridi will replace in their original squad.

At 24, Afridi brings valuable experience from both domestic and international cricket. He played in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) last year for Fortune Barishal, where he took two wickets in three games and scored 18 runs. His most notable achievements have come in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he has taken 60 wickets in 40 matches since debuting in 2021. He started his PSL career with Karachi Kings, spent three seasons with Multan Sultans, and returned to Karachi Kings this year.

Afridi is one of several Pakistani players confirmed for the 2025 CPL. Former left-arm pacer Mohammad Amir will play for the Trinbago Knight Riders, marking his fourth CPL team since 2021. Amir has taken 51 wickets in 39 matches at an impressive average of 18.09. Usman Tariq, another Pakistani pacer, will also join the Knight Riders for his CPL debut after strong PSL seasons in 2024 and 2025.

All-rounder Mohammad Nawaz will make his first CPL appearance with the Patriots, while experienced campaigner Imad Wasim returns to the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons after being released and re-signed before the draft.

The Guyana Amazon Warriors, last year’s runners-up, have picked spin all-rounder Hasan Khan, who is reportedly in the process of switching to USA cricket.

Pakistani players in CPL 2025:

St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots: Abbas Afridi, Naseem Shah, Mohammad Nawaz
Antigua and Barbuda Falcons: Imad Wasim
Trinbago Knight Riders: Mohammad Amir, Usman Tariq
Guyana Amazon Warriors: Hasan Khan, Iftikhar Ahmed
