West Indies fast bowler Jayden Seales produced a sensational spell on Tuesday, breaking a decades-old ODI bowling record against Pakistan and helping his team secure a historic series win.

Seales’ figures of 6/18 in just 7.2 overs not only powered West Indies to a dominant 202-run victory in the third and final ODI at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy, but also ended a 34-year wait for a bilateral ODI series triumph over Pakistan.

His performance is now the best ODI bowling display by a West Indies player against Pakistan, surpassing former pacer Franklyn Rose’s 5/23 in 2000.

This win is being celebrated as a landmark moment for West Indies cricket. The last time they defeated Pakistan in an ODI series was in November 1991 during a tour led by Richie Richardson, when the visitors won 2-0, with one match ending in a rare tie.

While Pakistan had earlier claimed the three-match T20I series 2-1 under Salman Ali Agha’s captaincy, the West Indies dominated the ODI format to clinch the trophy.

In the series decider, West Indies posted a commanding total of 294-6 in their 50 overs. Skipper Shai Hope anchored the innings with a brilliant unbeaten 120 off 94 balls, hitting 10 fours and five sixes. He was well supported by Justin Greaves, who smashed 43 off 24 balls in a rapid 110-run stand with Hope. Evin Lewis (37) and Roston Chase (36) also made valuable contributions.

Pakistan’s reply collapsed under relentless pressure from Seales. The visitors were bowled out for just 92 in 29.2 overs. Salman Ali Agha top-scored with 30, while Mohammad Nawaz remained not out on 23. Hasan Nawaz added 13 runs, but Pakistan’s top order faltered badly—five batters, including captain Mohammad Rizwan, were dismissed for ducks.

Seales’ heroics and West Indies’ all-round performance brought an end to a long-running losing streak against Pakistan in ODI series, giving the Caribbean side a victory to remember.
