PCB confirms fitness progress of pacer Mohammad Wasim Jr

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed that fast bowler Mohammad Wasim Jr. has fully recovered from a side strain and is back to full training.

Wasim, who missed the recent tours of Bangladesh and the West Indies due to injury, has resumed training at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore after passing all his fitness tests.

According to PCB officials, the right-arm pacer is now working on improving his bowling action. Coaches believe that adjustments to his action will help reduce physical strain and lower the risk of future injuries. He is being closely monitored by the high-performance staff during this phase.

Wasim sustained the injury during Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 10, where he played for Quetta Gladiators. He was ruled out of the T20I series against Bangladesh and didn’t recover in time for the tour of the West Indies either.

Doctors had earlier recommended a week of rest before he began his rehabilitation program at the NCA.

The 23-year-old was also part of the squad for the five-match T20I series in New Zealand earlier this year but played only two matches, taking one wicket.

Despite the injury setback, Wasim had a decent run in PSL 10, picking up 10 wickets in eight matches at an average of 20.80 and an economy rate of 7.38, helping Quetta reach the final.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan team is currently in the USA, where they are playing a white-ball series against the West Indies. Pakistan won the first T20I by 14 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
