The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has called an emergency meeting of its Board of Governors (BoG) tonight at 8:00 PM, following India’s refusal to play against Pakistan in the ongoing World Championship of Legends (WCL).
PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi will chair the virtual meeting, which is expected to address several key matters, including the growing tensions caused by India’s repeated withdrawal from matches against Pakistan and other important issues related to international cricket.
India was originally scheduled to play Pakistan in both the group stage and the semi-final of the WCL 2025 in England. However, the Indian team chose to forfeit both games, refusing to take the field against Pakistan. As a result, Pakistan Champions have reached the final of the tournament without having to play the semi-final.
The Board is expected to review the situation in detail and may issue a formal statement outlining Pakistan’s stance, especially with major tournaments like the Asia Cup and T20 World Cup approaching. The repeated forfeits have once again sparked debate on the influence of politics in sports and how Pakistan should respond to continued isolation in multinational events.
The meeting will also include a detailed briefing on global cricket affairs, including recent discussions at the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). Key topics will likely include decisions on hosting rights, changes to the international cricket calendar, and the future format of the Asia Cup—discussed during the recent ACC meeting in the UAE.
It is worth noting that Pakistan’s final opponent in the WCL 2025 will be decided after the second semi-final between South Africa Champions and Australia Champions, scheduled for Thursday in Birmingham.
