The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) are in discussions to play a white-ball series in October.

Cricbuzz understands that the series comprised with three ODIs and as many T20Is is likely to be played from the first half of October in Dubai considering both teams have international assignments in the second part of the month with Bangladesh set to host West Indies at their own backyard for a full-fledged series whereas Afghanistan have a tour of Zimbabwe scheduled during the same time.

Afghanistan were initially slated to host Bangladesh for two Tests, along with three ODIs and three T20Is, in July 2024 but that tour got postponed upon request from the BCB who cited workload management.

The ACB then proposed a white-ball series – three ODIs and three T20Is – in July-August at Greater Noida but that too didn’t materialize as the BCB felt the weather in that part of India wouldn’t be ideal for an international series.

“We are in discussion with ACB regarding the white-ball series comprising three ODIs and as many T20Is that were rescheduled earlier in 2024. We will be playing the remaining two Test matches at some other time that suits both the boards,” Shahriar Nafees, BCB cricket operation in-charge confirmed to Cricbuzz on Friday.

“Though the venue is yet to be finalized the series is likely to be played in coming October (2025) if everything goes as per plan,” he said. “Earlier we also played three ODIs against Afghanistan but that was not part of the tour that was rescheduled in 2024,” he added.

Sayeed Naseem Sadat, the spokesman of ACB, confirmed to Cricbuzz about the development when his attention was drawn to the matter by saying ‘Yes’ without elaborating further.
