India’s upcoming tour of Bangladesh, which was scheduled for next month, has reportedly been postponed indefinitely, according to Indian media reports on Friday.

The tour, which was supposed to take place from August 17 to 31, included three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). However, it is believed that the Indian government advised the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to delay the tour due to growing political tensions between the two countries.

Despite these reports, neither the BCCI nor the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has officially confirmed the postponement.

The Bangladesh board had already begun preparations for the home series, including selling media rights, but those arrangements have now been paused. Broadcasters were also informed that the series will no longer go ahead as originally planned.

A BCB official, speaking anonymously to Indian media, said: “The date for the India series hasn’t been fixed yet. They (the BCCI) said it’s difficult for them to come in August. This series is part of the Future Tours Programme (FTP).”

On the Indian side, officials have remained tight-lipped. A source within the BCCI said that a final decision is expected in the coming days, and both boards may issue a joint statement soon to clarify the situation.

According to the FTP, Bangladesh is set to host 49 international matches through May 2027. These include eight Test matches—two each against Ireland, Pakistan, West Indies, and England—along with 20 ODIs and 21 T20Is.

As of now, fans from both countries await official confirmation, while uncertainty surrounds the series.
