PCB names 15 players for first phase of Skills Development camp – Sport

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), under its Skills Development Programme, on Saturday called 15 players, out of a total of 47, for the first phase of the programme starting on Monday here at the National Cricket Academy under the newly-appointed director high performance Aaqib Javed.

“The National Cricket Academy will host a 20-day Skills Development camp from Monday, June 16,” the PCB annou­nced in its media release on Saturday.

“A total of 47 men’s cricketers will undergo training and fitness sessions during the camp, with the first batch of 15 players participating until June 21,” the release added.

“After the conclusion of the first phase, 16 players for the second phase will arrive on June 22 and will undergo training sessions from June 23 to 28. The third and final batch consisting of 16 players will train from June 30 to July 5,” it concluded.

The names of the second and third batch of players will be announced in due course.

The players will take part in fitness and fielding sessions from 6:00 to 8:00am while skill-based sessions (net practice) will be held from 2:30pm to 6:30pm at the LCCA Ground and NCA from Monday to Thursday.

On Friday and Saturday, the players will feature in match scenarios at the LCCA Ground.

PAKISTAN, SHAHEENS CAMPS

The training camps of Pakistan and Pakistan Shaheens’ teams will be held in Karachi from July 7 and July 10, respectively for their forthcoming foreign tours.

Pakistan are scheduled to tour Bangladesh to play three T20 Internationals there from July 20 to 24. They then visit the US to play three T20s against the West Indies in Lauderhill, Florida from Aug 1 to 4. The Green-shirts tour the West Indies to play three One-day Internationals. All these games will be staged in Tarouba.

The training camp for the Shaheens is being held for their tour of England scheduled next month.

15 players called for first phase: Aamir Jamal, Abrar Ahmed, Ahmed Daniyal, Babar Azam, Hasan Nawaz, Maaz Sadaqat, Mohammad Abbas Afridi, Mohammad Haris, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Rizwan, Naseem Shah, Sahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub, Salman Mirza, Sufyan Moqim.
