Australia opener gets in the groove ahead of T20 World Cup

Voll has had a taste of World Cup action before when she was part of the Australia squad in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025. She featured in two matches filling in for Healy.

However, with the T20 World Cup on the horizon, Voll doesn’t want to leave anything for chance and make the most of every opportunity that comes her way.

“I don’t think you can ever feel comfortable … it’s super important just to get out there and get that experience on different conditions, against different oppositions,” Voll said.

“To go out there consistently and open the batting with Beth Mooney is pretty special – it’s something I hope I can continue to do for a long time,” she added.

Voll has had a good 2026 so far scoring a brilliant 88 against India in the T20 series earlier in the year. She then followed it up with a century against the same opponent in the ODIs and is now testing herself in overseas conditions ahead of the marquee women’s tournament of 2026,

Speaking about her role in the team, Voll revealed that she prefers to keep things simple.

“It’s super important for us to try and get the team off for a good start and that’s my role at the top, to take the game on and give ourselves the best chance to make a big total,” Voll said.

“Just playing on different conditions (is important), I think being still quite new into the side, and learning about different places around the world is super important for me at the moment,” Voll added.

The tour to the Caribbean is Australia’s final test before the T20 World Cup in June and Voll has one more match to soak in as much experience as possible in her role.

Australia’s reign of dominance in women’s T20 cricket was ended by New Zealand in 2024 when they beat South Africa in the final. The six-time champions would be hoping to regain their crown after back-to-back exits in semi-finals at ICC tournaments and Voll is certain to play a key role for them in their T20 World Cup campaign beginning June 12.
