Aneurin Donald has been named T20 captain of Derbyshire Falcons Men ahead of the 2026 Vitality Blast campaign, as the explosive wicketkeeper-batter prepares to lead the side in this summer’s competition.
Donald has established himself as one of the most destructive T20 batters in world cricket over the past two seasons. During the 2025 Vitality Blast, he amassed nearly 450 runs at a staggering strike rate of over 200, underlining his status as one of the tournament’s most dangerous players.
The 27-year-old, who signed a contract extension earlier this winter, equalled the record for the fastest Vitality Blast half-century when he reached fifty in just 13 balls against Yorkshire at Queen’s Park last summer. Notably, all nine of his half-centuries for the Falcons have come in 25 balls or fewer, highlighting his aggressive and match-defining approach at the crease.
A former Vitality Blast champion with Hampshire Hawks, Donald will now aim to guide Derbyshire to Finals Day glory. He will be supported by experienced T20 campaigners Ross Whiteley, Wayne Madsen and Big Bash winner Caleb Jewell as the Falcons target a strong 2026 campaign.
Meanwhile, Wayne Madsen will continue to captain the men’s side in the Rothesay County Championship, while Adrianna Darlow remains Falcons Women captain in both white-ball formats heading into the new season.
