Gloucestershire have secured the services of Tommy Boorman on a two-year rookie extension, keeping the promising youngster at the club until the end of the 2027 season.

Tommy has enjoyed a breakthrough summer, making his List A and T20 debuts for Gloucestershire. His first professional appearance came in the West Country Derby against Somerset at Taunton, where he marked the occasion in style by dispatching England bowler Craig Overton for six with his very first runs in senior cricket.

It was in this year’s Metro Bank One Day Cup, however, where Tommy truly announced himself. He amassed 105 runs in seven innings at an average of 26.25 and a strike rate of 100. The numbers may look modest, but it was the impact of his contributions that caught the eye, with several crucial performances quickly establishing him as a regular feature in Gloucestershire’s group stage campaign.

One of these came in just his third List A appearance, when he made 33 not out from 22 balls to guide Gloucestershire to victory over Leicestershire in front of home fans. His innings included two fours and two sixes.

Speaking on his contract extension with the Club, Boorman said:

“I’m super excited to sign another 2 years at my childhood club. This year has been incredibly enjoyable for me, and I can’t wait to see what the next couple of years have to offer”

At 20 years old, Tommy is following in the footsteps of teammates James Bracey and Ollie Price by combining the early stages of his professional career with university studies, in his case at Cardiff Metropolitan University.

While Tommy has already demonstrated his clear ability and skill as a professional cricketer, it is his extremely high ceiling which excites everyone at Gloucestershire.
