West Indies brushed aside Nepal to pick up a consolation win in the final T20I in Sharjah on Tuesday (September 30). After conceding the series in shocking manner, West Indies bounced back hard to first bowl Nepal out for just 122 before chasing down the target inside 13 overs with all ten wickets intact.

A buoyed Nepal outfit started off in decent fashion with Kushal Malla picking on Akeal Hosein for a boundary and Kushal Bhurtel following it up with a couple of sixes. Even though they didn’t get off to a flyer, the Nepal openers set up a solid base by adding 37 runs in the powerplay. But once Jason Holder and Hosein struck to get rid of the set batters, it was all curtains for Nepal.

Ramon Simmonds got the big wicket of Rohit Paudel and Gulsan Jha got run out that saw Nepal get reduced to 85/4. Desperately in need of a partnership, Nepal just capitulated by losing wickets at regular intervals. Simmonds ended up finishing with a four-wicket haul as a result as Nepal got bowled out in the final over of the innings.

In reply, West Indies were handed a reprieve off the very first ball and Amir Jangoo took full toll of it. However, it was Ackeem Auguste who made an early impact. After smashing a six that landed on the roof, he continued to find the boundary as West Indies raced to 30/0 in just three overs.

While Nepal managed to restrict the flow of runs for a brief period after the initial onslaught, the openers just entered rampage mode from the ninth over. Scoring just 55 runs from the first eight overs, the two openers flicked a switch and hammered the Nepal attack to all corners. Jangoo brought up his fifty with successive sixes and cleared the ropes twice more in the next over. While Auguste remained unbeaten on 41, Jangoo finished things off in style with one more hit that sailed over the ropes to get the job done with 46 balls to spare.

Brief scores: Nepal 122 in 19.5 overs (Kushal Bhurtel 39; Ramon Simmonds 4/15, Jediah Blades 2/20) lost to West Indies 123/0 in 12.2 overs (Amir Jangoo 74*, Ackeem Auguste 41*) by 10 wickets
